Back To Dance Series- How to Transition Back Into a Full Schedule

After months of an empty schedule (for most of us), it can definitely be overwhelming to jump back into school, sports, work, and everything else that comes with a new school year. 
Over the next two months I'll be starting school (I'm homeschooled), two new jobs, four in-person classes, dancing 4 days a week, and obviously still going to church and youth group. Because I have such a full schedule, I've had to come up with some ways to stay organized, and I thought I'd share what I came up with on here since many of you are starting the new school year soon too.

Use a calendar or planner.
This one is very important if you have a busy schedule. There's calendar apps, planners, bullet journals, wall calendars, and so much more that you can use to keep track of your schedule. Personally, I use a calendar app on my phone and a planner. Find what works best for you. 

Get places early. 
This is one of my biggest goals for this school year. Recently I heard someone say that there's no such thing as on time: you're either early or you're late. Have a goal of getting places at least ten minutes early. That way you'll be less stressed and more organized.

Get enough sleep.
Transitioning back into such a full schedule is exhausting, so getting enough sleep is vital. Aim for at least 8 hours of sleep every night. It's especially important to get enough sleep when you start dance (or any other sport). While you're asleep, muscles are growing and being repaired. According to sleep.org, athletes should have between 7 and 9 hours of sleep every night, and more elite athletes should have closer to 9 hours of sleep. Start good habits now.
Whether it's not being late, eating healthier, or keeping track of your schedule, get into good habits now. The habits you develop now will be the same habits you end the school year with.


Even with dance being so time consuming, especially these first few weeks, remember to always put God first.

My History as a Dancer

 Since I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with anything related to dancing.  My journey as a dancer began about 12 years ago when I was a little girl, about the age of 3. I had a book about a little ballerina, called I Wear My Tutu Everywhere. I also danced around the house more than I walked, so it wasn’t long before my mom realized my interest in ballet. She got me a dancing dvd so I could practice at home, and looked for ballet flats for my little feet, but couldn’t find any, so instead she got me thin house shoes that resembled ballet shoes.  As my love for the art of dancing grew, my mom decided to put me in dance class. She put me in a dance school which I danced at for one year, until I was about five.  We eventually moved across the state to a small town. One of my kindergarten friends took ballet classes at a nearby ballet studio, and her mom recommended the studio to my mom. My mom contacted the studio about a year and a half later, and I remember going in...

Summer Workshop 2022!

 Summer workshop starts in five days! Today I'll be talking about what classes I'm taking, my schedules, and more.  To start with, I'll be taking ballet, conditioning, pointe, variations, contemporary, musical theatre, and partnering. I do ballet, conditioning, pointe, and partnering throughout the school year, but I only do the other ones in the summer. We have two guest artists coming, one for each week. The first one is one of my studio's founders, and one of my past instructors. She's an incredible dancer herself and one of the best teachers I've ever had. The second is a world-renowned choreographer and I couldn't be more excited to have the opportunity to be taught by him.  I'll be there for about 7 hours the first week, including a 3-hour class on Saturday.
